Bulk/Waste Pickup Delays
Republic Services delays in bulk and waste pick up are the direct result of staffing shortages, supply chain issues for repair parts and delays on new equipment delivery. If your waste has not been picked up on its regularly scheduled day, please place it out for pick-up on the very next day and call 954-956-1453 to ensure proper notification to Republic Services is provided. Customers can also report missed pick-ups or inquire about billing issues by contacting Republic Services at 954-327-9550 or visiting the City's
Garbage Collection Issues webpage.
Turnpike Expansion
The Florida's Turnpike engineering team is preparing plans to widen the Turnpike adjacent to Coconut Creek. These plans may be of particular concern to you, residents of Coconut Creek, because we anticipate the alternative preferred by the Turnpike will involve widening entirely to the west, impacting all of the properties along the east boundary of our City. Construction and widening of the Turnpike will cause increased noise, vibrations and pollutants.
Please email Turnpike Project Manager at jazlyn.heywood@dot.state.fl.us and tell her how the Turnpike expansion in Coconut Creek will impact your home, your family, your neighbors, your health, and your quality of life.
The recording of the January 18, 2022 Alternatives Public Information Meeting is posted in the 'Documents' section of the project website www.Turnpike595toWiles.com.

Landfill (Monarch Hill)
On October 27, 2022, at the Broward County Planning Council meeting regarding the Land Use Plan Amendment for the expansion of Monarch Hill Landfill, more than thirty Commissioners, staff, and residents spoke on behalf of the concerns of our community. The Planning Council unanimously voted to recommend denial of the Land Use Plan Amendment application, despite, they said, the application being technically complete. The Planning Council is an advisory board to the Broward County Commission.
The next step will be a public hearing before the Broward County Commission. Please stay tuned on this page or City social media sites.
If you would like to review the agenda for this meeting, including the backup for this item (PH 4), please view here.
City staff covered this topic in detail at the most recent Ambassador meeting which is available for review here.
